Photo Manipulation! - Response

Ever since the program Photoshop was invented many people have used it wisely, in there own unique ways. Photoshop is one of many Adobe’s amazing products that have been made. Due to the general use of embossing, sharpening, basically overall editing of the images, it has lately become the world-wides source for photo manipulation programs. Photoshop can be geniusly used to create gorgeous yet unique pieces of beauty as well to touch up photographs and to ensure great end looks. Not only is Photoshop used for beneficial purposes, it is also used for typically wrong reasons. Many magazines, commercials, advertisements all over the world mainly discover and continue to use Photoshop to drastically go overboard with the images of their models in order to complete and satisfy themselves. All they want and all they need is to ensure that the model's body can be seen on the cover looking flawless.

I am starting to truly understand and believe that Photoshopped images that are being produced are disgusting. Although first glance, already you can tell it is beautiful, but as you look take a closer inspection you can immediately distinguish the true face that lies under that perfect but fake looking skin. Under the great looks lies the truth; the perfect teeth, the perfect makeup, the perfect figure, the overall perfect appearance is all not true, it is all the opposite, plain gross. All of the work to make the model's 'look' better was finished through the use of Photoshop.

On cover magazines, lies the perfect beauty that all men are in need to die for. But what that beauty is, is definitely not human, it is a barbie doll. Cover models, are never real, they are all just an ordinary person that looks normal, and appeals to people in a normal way. For example, with Ralph Lauren's pictures, once you see them The you can immediately tell that its just so revolting, and its just not NORMAL at all! the before and after pictures are just plain different. The image of a normal human with already slim shape and already attractive look had been taken and manipulated into something that is considered ugly, and definitely not normal. For the most part, what is most shocking about this image is that it is an image that can easily be told it had been photoshopped. Photoshop is only to create and edit normal pictures but not for the purpose of making humans, non-humans.

In this post, there are many pictures shown, that truly identify the true meaning of 'Photo Manipulation' For example, there is a picture of Jessica Simpson with already a nice figure and shape, but when she had been photoshopped she had been turned into a non-healthy looking person, that completely looks un-normal. Photoshop modified her figure too much, as you can see with her waist, her hair, her overall entire face. Same with the images that follow up right after it. It's the same story over again.

In my opinion yes it does bother me a lot that companies often over-edit and continue to cross the line. Why? because their basically making their models or magazine idols look fake. It's not right, I mean why can't the companies just use normal people, and do whatever with them to make them look good, OTHER THAN USING PHOTOSHOP AND MAKING THEM LOOK FAKE, one possible solution is to use healthy fit models for advertising because some people that are bothered would then believe in the product. Many insecure people usually continue to compare themselves to what they see in magazines, which often leads those individuals into copying them, and wanting to look that way, which really is a fake body, that is Definitely not a healthy one. Also, companies continue to be unfair mainly to make people feel bad, or even guilty over the way they look.

In my opinion I believe that the trend will become more prevailing, however, I don't believe that the media will change the way it is right away. The trend of make-up use only, and no photoshop I think would not stick at all, because companies tend to be greedy with their overall products, and want everything to be perfect and intriguing. I believe companies will continue to use photoshop non-stop till they get whatevers right and whatever benefits them, cause really they wouldn't use just make-up to publish their product, they need to change the whole body figure to addict the audience into believing that the product being made is wonderful. I indeed am astonished and especially concerned about the people whose self-esteem's have been madly damaged by these images, and will be scarred dangerously for many years.

My opinion on the idea of magazines making runways for normal people; old, young, tall, short, all shapes and sizes is very attracting. I think it's great because it shows that not only one shape and size or look can fit into something but everyone can. It makes a really great point, and I think it's greatly appealing. The companies need to think of everyone not just someone, because they need to spread the meaning of true looks by showing that all body types are great, and nothing is needed for change. I feel absoulutely great, and amazed whenever I see a non-glammed magazine. Even though the models may not look completely perfect, or flawless, or gorgeous, they're still real, which states true beauty. Now that's a true thought.
